Year 5 & 6 Cobaw Basketball

This week, on Tuesday 1 August, seventeen enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 students headed off to Boardman Stadium, Sunbury, to represent Braemar College in the Cobaw Basketball competition. Braemar was represented by a girls and a boys team, who were faced with playing eleven 12 minute games throughout the day. The girls team were very strong all day, winning ten of their eleven games. The boys fought hard through some very competitive matches, winning seven of their matches.

The girls team progressed to a final at the end of the day. The final was incredibly tight but our Braemar girls managed to get the win, taking out the match by two points.

The staff attending the day would like to thank all of the parents who came along to cheer on the teams. They were also very impressed with the sportsmanship displayed by all the students on the day.

The teams were well led by their Year 12 coaches, Amy Vandenham and Alex Sciortino, both of whom have given up some lunchtimes and a day of school to coach the teams; a huge thank you goes out to them.
