Outstanding Student Achievement

At the beginning of May, one of our Year 9 students, Logan Xiriha, competed in Mayworth, the largest line dancing competition in Australia. Held in Tamworth, New South Wales, the competition saw competitors come from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth.

In the competition, Logan competed in thirteen dances, including the Australian Cup. Out of the thirteen dances, Logan placed in eleven – an outstanding effort! Logan didn’t compete in any solo dances this year; each of the dances she competed in were in groups (four or more dancers), trios, or duos.

Logan’s team competed in the Australian Cup, and came first for the second time in a row. Logan also received an individual trophy for ‘Most Improved Youth’, as well as receiving seven gold and two silver medals in her groups, duos, and trios.

Despite winning so many trophies and medals, Logan says that her favourite part of the competition was meeting international judges and dancers from Ireland and the Netherlands and enjoying the socials held after the daytime competitions.

Congratulations Logan on such a fantastic achievement and effort, you should be very proud!
