Year 8 Digital Technologies

Our Year 8 Digital Technologies class have been working with some exciting VEX robots. Mr Simpson’s Year 11 class built the robots when they returned to on-site learning late last term, and our Year 8 students then got to experience them. The students practiced using the ‘drive’ function as well as completing various challenges with the robots using hand-held controllers.
Divided into teams of four, the Year 8s were assigned a colour and their task was to collect a cube of their colour from the original stack and move it to the other side of the ‘arena’.
We’ve shared two videos below of the challenge; in the first one you’ll see the Orange and Purple teams dominate, led by Lachlan Barrett (Orange Team) and Adam Smith and James Selby (Purple Team). In the second video, the Green Team makes a strong finish thanks to Laura Wilkinson and Jett O’Kuhl.
Thanks to Year 8 Digital Technologies teacher, Mrs Dowling, for capturing these great videos!
