Year 7 Ancient Artefacts Exhibition

Over the past few weeks our Year 7 Encounter students have been learning about Ancient Civilisations of the world, with a focus on cultural practices; the organisation of societies; and the historical significance, mysteries, and legacies of such civilisations. One of the tasks was to create an ancient artefact using accurate historical detail and cultural significance. The outcomes from this task do not fail to inspire, and have been set up as an exhibition so that they can be truly appreciated!

We are so pleased to see such a wide range of well-crafted replicas of ancient artefacts. It is to the credit of the Year 7 students that the exhibition is once again so successful.

The amount of work and attention to detail is evident in so many of the artefacts, for example, in the Japanese temple, which reflects wonderful design and effort; the life-size Roman shield; the intricate design of an Egyptian bracelet, cleverly displayed and constructed set of Roman Numerals; the Pantheon; and the Colosseum, just to name a few. Each year, students in the Middle School vote for the “Most Popular Artefact” and there are also a number of teacher awards announced at the end of term.

With the help of Mr Deer, our students have put together a virtual tour of the exhibition, which you can watch below. Also, some of our students’ wonderful exhibits are on display at the Woodend Library for the rest of this week; our Braemar families and friends are invited to visit the library to get a glimpse of our Year 7s’ historical interpretation of the ancient world.

The opening hours for the Woodend Library are as below:

  • Monday – 9-1
  • Tuesday – 10-5
  • Wednesday – Closed
  • Thursday – 10-5
  • Friday – 9-1
  • Saturday – 10-12

Thank you to the students, parents, teachers, and support staff for supporting the Ancient Artefact Exhibition. Hopefully, next year see more of us able to view the exhibits in person.
