Riding towards cancer research
One of our Year 10 students, Oscar Stamp, will be cycling 100kms on October 29 to raise funds for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Oscar is a member of a team of cyclists from Woodend called The Spokes of Hope. This is Oscar’s second time participating in this ride and, at sixteen years old, he is the youngest cyclist on the team.

Oscar has shared the message below explaining the ride and why it is so important to him and his family.
In October, I will give one day to show I stand with those battling cancer, joining thousands of others as I ride 100km through the streets of Melbourne.
I can’t do this alone – I need your support to help me achieve my fundraising goal and make a real difference to the lives of people diagnosed with cancer, and their families.
My grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer not long ago, and although hers was caught early and it was treatable, sadly some other people aren’t so lucky. My family have had many friends pass away due to cancer, so this means a lot to me and my family, as well as many other families affected by cancer.
