60 years of Duke of Edinburgh Award in Aus!

2019 marks 60 years of the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Australia. The DofE, as it is affectionally called, is an award that can open pathways and generate opportunities, while leading students to learn new skills, improve their physical wellbeing, and gain volunteer experience.

To celebrate this milestone, our nation’s first ever Gold awardee is hiking 60 kilometres – one kilometre for every year the award has been in Australia – over the Easter long weekend.

Michael Dillon AM achieved his Gold Award in 1962 and was presented the award by HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Over the years since completing his own DoE Award, he has continued to be involved with the Award, encouraging young Participants to challenge themselves and achieve their goals.

Michael has now set himself a new challenge in 2019, undertaking this 60km hike challenge. He would like to invite Award Alumni or any person involved with the Award over the age of 18, to join him in his challenge!

WHEN AND WHERE?
The 2019 Easter long weekend (Friday 19 April – Monday 22 April 2019), at Hanging Rock, Mount Macedon.

Those interested in finding out more information and how to register for the challenge, please contact Michael directly at mcdillon@ozemail.com.au
