Two full weeks, and how far we’ve come…

Two weeks ago today, our students and their families had their first day of Term 2 via remote learning.

The word unprecedented has been ubiquitous over the past month, and it’s only upon reflection of situations like this that we can really grasp the impact of what it means. For two weeks, our students have been working at home, our teachers have been planning and working hard to teach students they can’t see, and our families have been juggling work, family, and home-schooling life. This is something that none of us have ever known or done before on such a large scale. It’s so important that we stop and reflect upon our growth as a learning community in the 11 days since Term 2 started; it makes you wonder what we’re all capable of, doesn’t it?!

Today was the first ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’, an important part of our new Asynchronous Learning mode. Well timed at the two-week mark of this new normal, the idea of Wellbeing Wednesday is to provide an opportunity for students to step away from  their screens and take some time out. We hope all of our students, families, and staff got to take a moment today to prioritise their wellbeing.

This is an outside-the-box situation, so don’t be afraid to try some outside-the-box activities; this could be a great time to try mindfulness techniques or meditation. And if that’s not for you, but you’ve been finding yourself feeling overwhelmed or stressed out, don’t underestimate the power of a few deep breaths. Taking a few considered, deep breaths in a comfortable space can have a profound impact on how you feel.

See the image below from HealthDirect for five easy steps to help you relax and reset. Keep up the great work everyone.

We’d love to hear how you spent Wellbeing Wednesday – send any updates through to Miss Jones at e.jones@braemar.vic.edu.au or contact us via our social media pages.
