Regional Basketball Championships

On Friday, 3 November our Year 5 and 6 Girls Basketball team headed off to Swan Hill, (yes, sunny Swan Hill, only a three-and-a-half-hour drive each way!) for the Regional Basketball Competition. The girls had already won two tournaments to make it to this level and were now playing for their chance to make it to the State finals.

The team were faced with some tough competition but rose to the challenge winning their first game quite easily. A slow start for Braemar in the second game meant that the opposition went into the second half with a good lead. Our girls fought hard and gradually chipped away at this lead but unfortunately were beaten by the clock, losing by only three points. The final game was neck and neck all the way through and with only two minutes to go, the scores were level. Unfortunately, a couple of amazing goals by the opposition meant that our team were beaten and didn’t make it through.

A big thank you goes to Jemima, Amber, Josie, Maisie, Mia, Isabella, Tamsyn, Lulu and Isabel for their amazing efforts throughout all the competitions and their terrific sportsmanship; you represented the College proudly. The team would also like to thank Alexandra Malcolm from year 11 who was their coach.
