Letters to Aged Care Facilities…

In the last few weeks of Term 3, our Middle School students took part in a heartwarming activity where they wrote letters that were sent to seven aged care facilities throughout the Macedon Ranges.

In these times of great uncertainty, stress, and concern, it was so wonderful for our students to take part in something which had the sole purpose of making someone else feel good.

The Year 8 students also ‘zoomed’ the Bupa Aged Care Centre in Kyneton, where they shared musical pieces, read poetry, and showcased their pets, as well as their cooking and craft activities. This was the first time this kind of activity had been done with the residents; we were very proud to be involved, and to have such well-presented and enthusiastic students.

A key feature of this year, as we’ve all adapted as best we can and tried to navigate this historic time, has been connectedness. It’s been crucial to health and wellbeing that we do what we can to stay connected with our families, friends, loved ones, and broader community. These activities were great examples of that; ensuring the elderly residents felt connected with others in their community.

Well done to all the staff and students involved in this great activity.
