International Youth Silent Film Festival (IYSFF)

As part of the Year 11 VCE Media course this term, students worked collaboratively in small groups to complete a silent movie and enter their result into the International Youth Silent Film Festival (IYSFF).

Two groups have been selected as screening finalists for the 2018 Victorian Regional Awards Night on Friday 26 October, a red-carpet event held at the Astor Theatre in St Kilda. The successful films, ‘Strings Attached’ and ‘Distance’, were produced by Jake Taylor, Lucas Rose, Harriet Foard, Georgia Brown, Georgia Hood, Alex Burrows, Blake Dickins, Sarah Horvat, Oscar Lenaine-Smith, Oliver Murfett, Yorke Pearce, and Amber Sillar. The festival includes work from secondary and tertiary level students from across Victoria and is always an enjoyable and well-attended function with celebrity judges from the industry often employed to select category winners.

Well done to all the students on their submissions and congratulations to our two finalists. We wish our filmmakers the best of luck and hope they have a rewarding and entertaining evening.
