Back to school…again…

We are so looking forward to seeing staff and students back at the College tomorrow, across both campuses, after the wild weather events that saw us closed for Thursday and Friday of last week.

Power was finally restored to both the Mt Macedon and Woodend campuses on Friday evening, which meant that our IT team could get our digital services and resources – including SEQTA – back online over the weekend. We are aware that sadly not all of our families and staff are in the same position, with some yet to have their power reconnected, and others still without phone/internet services. We are mindful of everyone in these circumstances and encourage you to reach out if you or your children are still affected and need assistance.

Mr Deer outlined, in a communication out to families this evening, some details around the impact of the wild weather on the two campuses. Much of the work to get us back to normal has been completed over the weekend, but there will still be some flow-on effects this week, namely:

  • There will be modifications to the Ashbourne and Woodend 2 bus routes. Affected families have been contacted directly.
  • The TuckShop and Food Van will not be operating on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. This is due to the extended power outages and the impact upon supplies. We will communicate more information regarding their reopening as soon as possible.

We are – as always – so grateful for the wonderful spirit among our Braemar Community. During times like these, it’s heartwarming to see the collaborative and supportive values in action, with neighbours and friends supporting one another, and offering assistance wherever it’s needed.

Our thanks and acknowledgement also goes out to the emergency services workers and volunteers from the CFA and SES – including a number of our staff and students; thank you for your dedication over the last few days to restore safety around our community.

See you tomorrow!
